Salesforce and Marketo mapped fields not updating

A couple weeks ago we integrated Salesforce and Marketo, and sucessfully synced the two. We had support merge some fields together that were originally in Marketo, but needed to be created in Salesforce. Before that merge happened, we started syncing leads over that reached MQL status so that sales could start working. Our Salesforce isntance is new (professional edition), and we are currently only syncing over MQLs.

The problem is that any Lead that was synced (created in Salesforce) before the fields were merged on 1/22 are not currently updating those fields. This is through a manual sync, or through the routine sync between the two.
However, any leads that were initially synced and created in Salesforce after 1/22, are updating correctly. So the merged fields are mapped correctly.
 
Updates are blocked from certain fields in Salesforce updating Marketo records, but currently there are no blocked fields in salesforce.

You should always create fields in SFDC first if you intend to use them in both systems. I suspect something is wrong with the permissions and mapping of these fields. As Justin said, call support.
