I'm poking around in RCE and am trying to create a custom measure to use in an opportunity analysis field. Essentially, I want to recreate the Opportunity Amount measure, but using a custom synced field (we don't use the native Amount field in SFDC opportunities). However, when I click "Create Calculated Measure" the only fields visible are standard fields or existing measures. Is it not possible to create a custom measure based on a custom field?

Hey Matt Stone,
I know exactly what you are trying to do. You have to call support and tell them that you want to remap the default opportunity amount field in RCE to a custom field. Not everyone in support will understand what you are talking about. Devyn has done this for me out of Portland support center. It is possible. You might run into 1st line support folks that say its not. It is. The caveat to that is you have to force RCE to recognize the update so you have to make an update to all records in SFDC, like adding a period to a field in SFDC that syncs to marketo. I'll be at Summit so reach out if you need more help.
Hi Matt,
Once the field has been created in Marketo, you need to go to admin-> Revenue Cycle Analytics and hit the "custom field sync" tab on the top of the screen. There, you will be able to sync your new field with RCE datamart. It will take 24 hours after this to show up in RCE.

Hey Grégoire Michel, I got the field to sync properly, it's how I'm trying to use the field that's the problem. I want to effectively create a new "Opportunity Amount" measure, but with this custom field instead. But when I get into the "Create Calculated Measure" screen, I see this:
So there's no way to incorporate this new field and I'm left only being able to use my custom field as a row or column, but not the actual dataset (measure) of the report. Does that make sense?
Hi Matt,
Have you synchronized the field as a metric or as a dimension ?
-Greg
A dimension because that's the only option presented to me in the Custom Field Sync screen. The field is a Currency(18,0) type in SFDC.
Then, since it's a dimension, it cannot be used as a metric.
Is the field an opportunity field or a contact field in SFDC ?
-Greg
Opportunity -- I'm struggling to identify what type of field can be synced from SFDC and then used as a Measure instead of a Dimension.
OK, I had missed this. then it's impossible to make it a metric, then, unfortunately. Sorry for not asking this question first

Do you know what fields/field types can be synced from SFDC and then used to create a Measure? I tried different field types and couldn't see any that would let me create them as a Measure.
HI Matt,
It's not the field type that matters, it's the object to which they below. It has to be a lead, contact or account field. As long as they belong to these objects, any number or currency field can be made a measure.
