pre-ticked boxes

Hello; Is it legaly OK to pre-tick boxes on a landing page? e.g. to pre-tick the radio button on “I would like to receive further communications"?

Or does this affect just certain regions/ countries?

Moreover, anybody did some A/B testing on have that pre-tick there or not, to see if doing this would be a symbol of an overly aggressive marketing approach. Or does it pay off?

thanks

Re: pre-ticked boxes

This is flatly illegal in some jurisdictions and questionable in all.

Talk to your lawyer -- or just don't do it.

Illegal in all the EU for a start. No need to ask a lawyer, I am 100% sure

Of course. I meant their jurisdiction(s), whatever they are.

I can contribute and say for CASL (Canadian Anti Spam Legislation), it is 100% illegal as well! To Sanford's point, your best option is to consult your legal team on all things regarding Spam Laws.

It is my understanding that laws vary dependent on where the email recipient resides.  You will want to check local laws/regulations.
