One nested program multiple smart campaigns to fire?

I am working on designing a engagement program in which it would be great for us to have one nested program in the stream with multiple smart campaigns to trigger the send of multiple different emails per smart campaign. 

Couple questions:

1. Is this possible and will each smart campaign trigger and run as expected? The way they would be set up is that no one person could qualify for multiple smart lists. 

2. If I were to add in a pause stream cadence flow action after the first email of each nested smart campaign flow went out for a certain period of time would the remaining emails within that flow still go out? 

See general example of design below:

Engagement Stream (Weekly Cadence)

Cast 1: Email 1

Cast 2: Email 2

Cast 3: Email 3

Cast 4: Email 4

Cast 5: (Nested Program) Resources for Interest

     Smart Campaign 1 (Product Interest A)

          Smart List: If has product interest A

          Flow:

               Step 1: Send Email 1 (Product Interest A)

               Step 2: Change Engagement Stream Cadence to Paused

               Step 3: Wait 1 Week

               Step 4: Send Email 2 (Product Interest A)

               Step 5: Wait 1 Week

               Step 6: Send Email 3 (Product Interest A)

               Step 7: Change Engagement Stream Cadence to Normal (they then hopefully will pick back up at the next cast with the next piece of content in line....Cast 6: Email 5

     Smart Campaign 2 (Product Interest B) - Different people than those who qualified above and different emails

          Smart List: If has product interest B

          Flow:

               Step 1: Send Email 1 (Product Interest B)

               Step 2: Change Engagement Stream Cadence to Paused

               Step 3: Wait 1 Week

               Step 4: Send Email 2 (Product Interest B)

               Step 5: Change Engagement Stream Cadence to Normal (they then hopefully will pick back up at the next cast with the next piece of content in line....Cast 6: Email 5

You want to use a Choice Step or two diff Product Programs such that Product B is excluded from Product A and thus skips to next asset.

Better would be to shift Product A and B to specific tracks to avoid problems.

Thanks Josh.  Do you know if you change the engagement stream cadence to paused will that pause the flow of the nested program after it has already been triggered?

No, once someone is in the Child Program campaign, it continues by itself. That's one reason to avoid Child Programs in the way you are attempting to use them.
