'Most recent campaign/program' field usage

Hi there,

 

I'm wondering when you all update your most recent campaign/program field. Is it when someone opens/clicks or is it even more broad, for example when an email is delivered or sent?

That's a good question to ask, but I think it is mostly determined by your purpose/use of the field.  Not everyone uses this field. 

As a best practice I would say that you want to always update your program status.  With respect to last program if you are using it to determine engagement then I would associate it to person's actions. If it is to track qualification/frequency the it would be related to an outbound action that represents your attempt to create a touchpoint.

Sorry if this doesn't really answer your question, but maybe it will seed some thoughts.

Thanks Blane! Someone once told me they liked how Marketing Ops is very black and white but oh that is not the case. But that's what makes the job interesting!
