Modules in New email editor

Hi everyone,

There are lot of discussions regarding New email editor but none of the spoke about 'Modules'. Are modules still available in new email editor? can we create module like before? If we can create how can I use them? If possible provide some screenshots showing the options of where modules are available in New email editor. our client wants to migrate to New email editor, so they want to check whether we should create modules for new editor or we can use old ones.

Thanks

Hi @DineshRe3, New email designer follows the drag and drop structure and in place of snippets, they are using fragments. They do not support the module strructure.

For duplicate, delete options you can use the feature that is provided in this new editor.

Re: Modules in New email editor

Something I am quite vocal about is the need to change vocabulary. Functionalities are there, but in a different way. So as @Disha_Goyal6 mentions, in the new email designer we speak about "structures", "content" and "fragments" with locking options at several levels. With fragments having the option to be editable for the end user in ways you can specify, I would say they are somewhere between a module (that lives as a stand alone entity in Marketo and can be inserted into an email) and a snippet. But if you don't use fragments in that way, a structure within an email template that contains one or more content elements that are locked to a certain degree also behaves much like a module.

So no, modules in their old form do not exist anymore, but the vast majority of the functionality is there and arguably in a more user-friendly way. You just have to get used to the new way and the new terminology.

Re: Modules in New email editor

Let's say we have section with 30/70 image and body and cta,  we create it as fragment and use it in emails?  And we can make all the modules we are using currently to fragments?

Re: Modules in New email editor

Hi @DineshRe3, if you need this section in almost every email then the fragment is very useful otherwise use the drag and drop editor to create the same. Creating multiple fragments (used only in 2-3 templates) for every template will make your marketo loaded with multiple fragments.

Hi Disha,

Got it. Thanks for clearing my doubts. It was really helpful.

Instead of templates, modules and snippets, it’s now a system of templates and fragments.

Re: Modules in New email editor

Hi @DineshRe3 While there's been a lot of conversation about the New Email Editor in Marketo, "Modules" haven't been directly addressed much, especially with the rollout of Fragments. In the New Email Editor, the concept of Modules as we knew them in the legacy editor has been replaced and enhanced with the Fragments feature.

In addition to @Katja_Keesom comment, there will be a feature to import and convert existing HTML templates and modules.

If you have existing templates that you want to use, the conversion will allow you to retain the design with the majority of functionality; some custom designs may not be supported.
