I'm working on an email from a cloned previous email, but I've noticed I can't add/edit modules and the "modules" tab is greyed out. Can someone please tell me how to unlock this?
And they were available on the version you cloned from?
Is the original email using an older template ?

This is weird because your template seems tu use modules (5 are showing as active) and the tab is greyed. There is probably a problem in your template code. Can you display it here ?

I encountered a similar problem a few months back where my email got "corrupted" when cloned. Does the issue persist cloning the original email multiple times? Might be worth reaching out to support to look into it.
I've experienced this issue too and have always found that opening and re-saving the template fixes it; I believe it's some kind of bug that corrupts the template occasionally when it's saved.
