Managing multiple brands under one Marketo instance

Just interested in knowing how you guys manage multiple brands/affiliate companies with Marketo and your CRM?

How do you split our lead database into subsets that only receive communications from one brand and not another? Do you need to be on the Enterprise edition?

The most effective option would be Workspaces and Partitions. That is a feature of Enterprise.

Hi Nadia, I've read that you can also purchase workspaces and partitions as an add-on, but you'd have to check with Marketo sales for your specific situation.

Yes, you can add it on, although it may make sense to upgrade.

But - managing WS and LP comes with challenges. Depending on how partitioned you want your database, you can manage this with a series of smart list filters.

Add some fields like

  • Product Interest - check boxes or picklist
  • Brand Owner - picklist - lead can be owned by one brand at a time

Then you'll need suppression lists that everyone respects to avoid sending to the wrong groups.

Other questions to ask
"Would leads be members of more than one brand or BU?"
Is your CRM already segmented this way?
Are all BUs on the same CRM instance?
How are communications managed now?

The answers will help you decide if WS/LP is right for you.

Good question. I asked your Marketo account manager to reach out over email, and discuss further to see if workspaces would be a good fit for your use case.
