Linking to external site from within Marketo

Is it possible to link to an external site from within the Marketo interface, passing in information from the lead/contact record? For example, if we wanted to dynamically retrieve information about a particular lead. Salesforce can do this using Visualforce / iFrames.  I was hoping we would be able to achieve this with a webhook, but that does not seem to be the case.

Sure, webhooks and the API. Depends exactly on your use case and the other systems. I would seek out developer help.

Thanks Josh. I have looked at Webhooks. They would allow us to retrieve data, but it does not look like they allow us to pop up a window/link to an external site.  Is that not the case?

Webhooks will not allow you to customize the UI at all.

What you're describing unfortunately can't be done within Marketo. The lead UI isn't really meant to be an everyday tool, unlike the SFDC UI. It's best to think of Marketo as "headless" in that regard.
