Do leads in wait steps prevent them from getting synced to SalesForce while they are in the wait step?
We are experiencing slow and long sync times between marketo and salesforce. Thanks!
Hi Victoria, a wait step shouldn't prevent updates from syncing to SFDC. Having a slow/long sync time is typically related to having a lot of updates in each sync, or apex cpu timeouts or other failures.
It depends exactly what we mean here. Dory's right, but consider your workflow - is this workflow supposed to sync something? It won't until the Wait step is over and the Sync to SFDC is executed.
Thanks guys. The order of the work flow is Change data value - Add to SFDC campaign - wait step - other work flows.
Wouldn't a change data value (updating a field in SFDC lead record) require a sync lead updates? or even the "add to sfdc campaign" should force an update to salesforce?
The change data value will only force an update if they already exist in SFDC, but the add to SFDC campaign will force them to sync over. You likely have other things going on that are causing delays.
Thanks Dory. The leads definitely exist in SFDC already. Can you provide possible examples of "other things going on" that may be causing the delay? The activity log looks pretty clean and it's only happening to a sub set of leads.
Are you seeing anything in their logs related to a sync failure? That's something that we struggle with -- and it's a lot of finger-pointing back and forth between Marketo and SFDC. I think it's a SFDC issue, but we still haven't gotten to the bottom of it.
No Sync failures. Simply just a long delay of sync lead updates (1-4 hrs hours) even after the "add lead to sfdc campaign" flow step. =(
Check your campaign queue. then ask Support. Sometimes there are glitches.
Also, if you have a high volume of leads and are a high value customer, you can ask Support to open up more Sync channels between your instance and SFDC.
