Re: Inserting SFDC Custom Object field values into emails

Hey Nation,

We're trying to move some of our operational emails from Salesforce over to Marketo. These emails have a lot of references to SFDC custom object fields. What are my options for getting these fields into an email. I've already enabled the custom object sync within Marketo, now it's just a matter of accessing that data somehow.

Thanks!

You'll be using Velocity (Email Script) tokens.

I'm sure this is an obvious question, but I'm not seeing any of my SFDC Custom Objects as available to use when trying to build my Velocity token. In fact, the Mobile App, Mobile App Install, and Vibes List Membership "custom" objects are nowhere to be seen in my instance.

I'm guessing this is a problem for support?

Sounds like you may not have any SFDC Custom Objects set to sync.

Go to 'Admin -> 'SalesForce Object Sync' and see if anything has a green checkmark. If not, you can enable the object, but will need to turn off the SFDC sync to do so.

hope it helps!

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the tip, but we actually do have a few SFDC Custom Objects set to sync (three, to be exact).

I'm thinking I might have to escalate this to support.

Did you ever reach out to support? What did they say?

It ended up being a strange issue where I had to un-sync the object and then re-sync it in order to view the necessary fields.

I reached out to support and they said that sfdc CO's wouldn't be available under the custom object column in the script because it's not a Marketo CO. But the object itself without it's fields are available under the Person section. Doesn't really help since we need to pull the CO fields.

... sfdc CO's wouldn't be available under the custom object column in the script because it's not a Marketo CO.

That's... completely untrue.

SFDC COs when properly synced are available in Velocity.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong then for it to not show up.

Oh, I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, but what Support told you is totally wrong.
