Hi All,
I am looking for a solution to the problem of converting an excel file to CSV with phone numbers. I am finding that upon import the phone numbers change to formula and then they don't import into marketo at all.
Any suggestions on how to get around this are appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi Christine,
What is the problem you're running into? I've always imported telephone numbers using the csv format without any issues? CSV format tends to strip all the formulas etc out of a spreadsheet.
Thanks
Juli
Seconding Julie here: it's not possible for CSVs to represent Marketo Formula fields.
You can of course have Excel mistakenly set to Formula type in a cell or column, which might result in a CSV with meaningless content. But Marketo wouldn't recognize the output as anything but a String.
Sometimes international phone numbers get messed up when you go from CSV to Marketo -- Excel thinks that your phone number is a long number that needs to display in scientific notation, and Marketo makes the phone number that value. You need to play with the cell format in your CSV before upload, make sure that what you see in the cell is the full phone number before doing your upload.
Right - so what is the correct format for those cells? we are facing the same issue with our international phone numbers - I can't seem to find clear instructions on how to format that field in excel, so that I can reliably tell my team how to get the data into marketo without collapsing it to a formula. @Anita Singh
Highlight the column, go to Format ==> Cells, choose Special ==> Phone Number
