ICS File with GoToWebinar links

Hi everyone,

I'm currently trying to create ICS file in Marketo confirmation email instead of using standard GoToWebinar conf.email ICS.

Firstly, we had a link to GTW inherited there: https://global.gotowebinar.com/icsCalendar.tmpl?webinar={{my.Event Number}}&user={{member.registration code}}

Since we need to use our own template w/o GTW references I tried to use really useful post here: https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000L555CAC

Now I have only token with the ICS default description there, namely:

"Access URL: {{member.webinar url:default=edit me}}

1. Klicken Sie hier, um das Webinar zu dem geplanten Termin zu starten oder daran teilzunehmen:
{{member.webinar url:default=edit me}}
Bitte beachten Sie: Dieser Link ist ausschließlich für Sie bestimmt und sollte an niemand anderen weitergegeben werden.

...

Audio PIN: wird angezeigt sobald Sie sich im Webinar befinden"

Nevertheless, the ICS file link in receiven confirmation email doesn't work, as he's trying to find the ICS subject name on our resource. Like "http://na-lon02.marketo.com/rs/webinterpret/2098/GoToWebinar+-+Das+Programm%3A+Weltweit+wachsen+bei+eBay+durchgeführt+von+WebInterpret+`````.ics?"

Is there is something I'm missing in description of the file? How should it normally work? Isn't it the the same action as we do with GTW ICS - downloading and uploading to Calendar tool?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Valeriya,
What is the token in the confirm email you're using?

Re: ICS File with GoToWebinar links

Hi Rick,

Sorry for the late response. The token is like: {{my.ICS:default=edit me}}
where the my.ICS token is descibed with subject, start/end dates and description like follows:

"Access URL: {{member.webinar url:default=edit me}}

1. Klicken Sie hier, um das Webinar zu dem geplanten Termin zu starten oder daran teilzunehmen:
{{member.webinar url:default=edit me}}
...
Audio PIN: wird angezeigt sobald Sie sich im Webinar befinden"

Re: ICS File with GoToWebinar links

Tokens currently are only supported in the description; which is a known bug. If you're using the webinar url token in the subject, chances are that's what's causing the issue.

Until that's fixed, I'd recommend just having a basic subject, "Marketo Webinar: Graduating from Email"

Hope that helps!

Re: ICS File with GoToWebinar links

Hi Rick,

I DO NOT use tokens in the subject. Only description contains webinar urls.

Re: ICS File with GoToWebinar links

The subject is given like: GoToWebinar - Das Programm: Weltweit wachsen bei eBay durchgeführt von WebInterpret

Re: ICS File with GoToWebinar links

I tried to remove all the description and tokens, changed the subject (not to use specific char symbols).

All the time I try to open token link to ics file from confirmation email I receive browser error "Server not found".

The link in the address line:

http://na-lon02.marketo.com/rs/webinterpret/3939/GoToWebinar.ics?mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRow5%2FmYJoDpwmWGd5mht7VzDtPj1OY6hBooKrWJK1TtuMFUGpsqOP6bAwseB5Vz0B5dDg%3D%3D

So it can not actually find ics file+mkt_tok?

Re: ICS File with GoToWebinar links

Hmmmmm, well I'm honestly stumped. Sounds like it may be a more serious bug, I'd recommend filing a ticket with support.

Sorry for hassle. 😞
