I've created an email that lists multiple email domains. When I send the sample email to myself, all the domains are hyperlinked even though I did not do this. Is there a way to remove it? I've tried removing the tracking on each email domain but it doesn't stick.
I assume your subject should actually be "How to remove hyperlinks from domains" since you don't refer to email addresses anywhere else, just domains (example.com).
First, realize the hyperlinking isn't being done by Marketo. It's being done "intelligently" by email clients who look for patterns that are domain-like -- that is, dot-separated words -- and "helpfully" turn them into links. This feature is not malicious but has serious security concerns, although again it's not Marketo doing it. Domain-like strings are linked even if they are plain text in the email.
The workaround is to insert a non-printable character around the dots. Last I looked, you could use the Unicode character \uFEFF for this.
OP please return to your thread and mark my answer as Correct, thanks.
