Hi, Would taking the online course be enough to pass the certification?

I would like to try to pass the certification and I wondered if the free courses that are in the MKTO university were enough to pass the test?

Hi Mickeal, the online University courses are very helpful, but it's also much easier to pass the test if you have been using Marketo consistently for anywhere from 6 months to a year. Being in the platform and utilizing all of the features on a regular basis is really the best tool to pass the exam.

Hi Mickeal,

Marketo suggests that, in addition to going through all the Foundations Exercises and Quizzes, you also have completed the tasks that were covered in those courses in a "real world" situation.  They also recommend a minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience with the features in Marketo.

Totally agree with Dory and Val that 6 months of actual usage is far better prep than reading the docs. That being said, the docs and the videos will help you. You can also read my blog which discusses many issues that you should know about http://www.marketingrockstarguides.com

I've seen people try to take the exam after 8 weeks of study, only to fail. Maybe you can do better, but it's pretty rare. I'd say the absolute minimum is 3 months use with a lot of study.

Actual usage of Marketo is ideal.  There's 2 people in my company who took the test and one failed because the person crammed for the test and should have taken the time to learn by doing. Oh and don't forget spend some time in the community to learn because you can pick up a lot of tid bits from Josh and from the ladies above.
