Help with Tokens

We want to know when any of the folks we send an email to take an action, for example, we may point them to a link to a video.   Then we want something like an email notification sent to the account owner when any of these folks take that action.

Has anyone done this in their email templates?  Do I need to use tokens?

Thanks,
Susan

Re: Help with Tokens

Hi Susan,

It depends on the action, if you want to see when a lead clicks on a link in an email - create a smart campaign -
  1. smart list = clicks link (or clicked link depending on if its after the email has been sent out) - identify the email and the link you want to look for (or form, etc. whatever the action is)
  2. flow = send alert - identify the alert you want sent to the lead owner
  3. schedule = identify if its a campaign that should be run once, or repeatedly
Hope that helps!

Re: Help with Tokens

If you are using SFDC, have Sales Insight installed and are creating interesting moments, SFDC users can sign up for interesting moment alerts on the Marketo tab in SFDC.

Additionally, you can create tasks in SFDC using the process that Kristin outlines above (instead of send alert). Tasks can carry an alert and you can report on that activity in the CRM.

Re: Help with Tokens

...And I just realized what you are asking!

To send the alert, use Kristin's instructions above. To include the action detail in your email alert, you will need to use Lead, Company and Trigger tokens. Here's the articles I reference: This will allow you to send alerts at the time of the behavior to the owner with the details of the activity.

Hope this helps!
