It looks like Email Programs are able to update my Salesforce activities for a lead whenever they click/open an email.
However, I am wondering if I were to use a Default Program with an Email channel, if the Salesforce activities for a lead would record clicks/opens. Or would I have to set up triggers for that to happen? I noticed my predecessor created triggers for her Default Programs to update the activity for any clicks or opens. I just want to make sure that that is necessary.
I sure hope the above makes sense... Looking forward to hearing what the community has to say. Thanks all!

Hi Danielle
Yes thats right - ll those will automatically appear as activities for any leads synced to SFDC.
Many thanks

Hi Danielle
This is something that is more likely set up at a global level, rather than per campaign. In the SFDC Sync Options you can elect to have certain activities come through to Salesforce as activities - see below. Plus I dont think there's a flow action you an use to create a Salesfore Activity in a Smart Campaign. What's in the flow steps - is it a Change Program Status step to update to Clicked and Opened?
Hope that helps!

This is good info, thanks! And yes, change program status is in the flow.
okay, here's what my sync options look like. So SF should have these logged in activities automatically?

Yes and no. The sync will only send one activity per type, per lead, per day. This can create far more confusion than benefit: you do not want Sales wondering why they're talking to someone about an uninteresting click (or ignoring their daily click, if it's an unsubscribe). So you must be aware of this limitation when rolling it out. Consider it advisory, but not complete.
Hmm let me make sure I understand correctly. so if someone opened an email and clicked. Only the opened email will be logged. We won't know if the person clicked?

You'll get the first open and the first click of the day. You won't get subsequent activities of those same types.
Okay. The clicks and opens are the things I care about tracking most. So as long as they are syncing in the activity history, then I'm good!!
Thanks Sanford!

One will sync per day. If someone opens two emails, you'll see the first only. If they click two links, you'll see the first only.
