Anyone know a way to do custom sync rules on SFDC professional edition? Seems as though Salesforce has removed the ability to do sharing rules on the lead object...?
Can you not use the Do Not Sync checkbox method and then block the user from seeing that?
Adding to Josh comment, indeed, sharing rules are very limited with the Pro edition, so the "Do Not Sync" will be better.
@Josh, on the Pro edition, if you want to be able to use a field for anything, it has to be on a page layout, so you will be condemned to show it to the users. You just can make it read only for non admins. All fields that are not on a page layout are not visible even for API access.
And besides, the "Do Not Sync" is recommended by Marketo themselves on the Pro edition.
Thanks guys - figured there had to be some way to do it.
Just in case anyone else is going through this. SFDC does NOT support custom sync rules in Professional edition anymore because the share settings are not configurable on the lead object, but if you speak with Marketo support and give them a Boolean field from SFDC that they will listen to, and depending on the value of that field they setup the custom sync rule on their end.
