Creating a custom sync rule for SFDC using a formula checkbox field

I'm trying to integrate my Marketo instance with SFDC. We have a ton of data we won't need to sync, so we're creating a custom sync rule. Its a checkbox field with a formula to mass populate automatically, but using a formula causes the field to lock and become read-only. The marketo user in salesforce needs permission to edit this field in order to sync over. Does anyone know of a workaround?

Aaron,

Good question. I would not have that field be a formula field.

Instead, batch update all the records that need to sync to marketo, and then build a workflow in sfdc to mark that box as true if certain criteria are met.

Hi Aaron,

Check box fields (one for contacts, one for leads) and 2 workflows. But pay attention to how you uncheck these fields.
