Created Date and SFDC Created Date Not Matching

While looking at the details of a lead in the Marketo lead database, I noticed the "SFDC created date" and "created" fields didn't match for the lead. The "SFDC created date" field indicates the lead was created in SF in 2007, while the "created" date field indicates the lead was created in Marketo in 2010. Does this mean the lead was created first in SFDC then 3 years later was created in Marketo? Trying to wrap my head around what exactly this means and why the SFDC created date would be earlier than the Marketo created date.

Yes, that is exactly what this means.

A lead is Created in Marketo when the first cookie is created OR when you first sync the record from SFDC. So it is very possible to have your scenario.

Re: Created Date and SFDC Created Date Not Matching

Hi Kelly,

The Created field in Marketo refers to when the Marketo-side record was created, which will not always match the SFDC record.  For example, if the SFDC record was created prior to your integration with Marketo, these will not match.  On the otherside, an anonymous lead's first web visit will also be its created date, and thus will reflect through the whole lead lifecycle.

Okay, thank you both for clearing this up!
