Business Only Email Addresses VS Gmail, Yahoo, etc

Does anyone have stats or thoughts on requiring a business email for form submissions?  We currently block gmail, yahoo, aol, etc, however have noticed that many companies don't require this.  We did this to keep our database clean but now wonder if our conversion rate is suffering.

Since many people use personal emails for linkedin sign-on...we might be losing folks.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

We've tossed around the idea of filtering out non-business email addresses but I just think in this day it's hard not to miss out on conversions by doing so. I love a clean database, but I love good leads more! Give and take...

We used to allow public domain email addresses, but did get an inordinate number of leads that were not in our target profile.  We added java script to our forms to exclude over 80 public email address domains over a year ago, but didn't see an impact on qualified leads.  But like Kimi says, it's give and take.

Because of the nature of our business, we couldn't completely exclude those domains. However, when they get scored, they get less points.

We did find just putting "Business Email" as the label on the address field really helped. Simple change!
