Re: Are we able to connect 2 Marketo instance with 1 SFDC at the same time.

The client wants to keep the existing Marketo instance connected to Salesforce (SFDC) so that all ongoing marketing programs can continue running as usual.

At the same time, they are planning to connect a new Marketo instance to the same Salesforce instance — but without allowing any data to sync yet. The goal is to complete the technical connection and field mapping in advance, while delaying live data flow until IP warming is completed on the new Marketo instance.

Their main concern is the 30-day IP warming period and ensuring that normal marketing operations are not affected during this transition.

2. Also, client wants to know if it is possible to stop data sync for a period of time between SFDC/Marketo after establishing a connection.

Yes, if the SFDC User (e.g. via Sharing Rules) doesn’t have access to any objects in SFDC.

Therefore, you can’t do this with the same SFDC User in both instances. Needs to be separate users.

Note I would not recommend completely hiding all Leads & Contacts from the new User, instead exposing a small subset of test records for load & functional testing. No reason to give yourself even more to do when you finally turn on the spigot.

You can pause the SFDC Sync whenever you want. Of course that means more to sync when you resume.
