Not sure if this applies to everyone since we have opted for the separate social add-on features onto our subscription. We've created a new YouTube Video asset so that it can be embedded and tracked in Marketo:
It's that tracking piece that I'm not clear on. Sure, we have a separate social dashboard provides a social funnel for the asset:
But our hope was to also be able to trigger/filter off this behavior within smart campaigns - so we can move those leads into an "Engaged" program status. Is this native tracking capability not possible with this specific asset? If not, are there plans to introduce this capability in the near future? I have to admit, I'm concerned that there really havn't been any enhancements to the social suite add-on since it was launched a couple years ago.
Did you ever figure this out? We have just added our first YouTube asset as well and are not sure what we can really get from this tracking funnel. We were also hoping to create a smart campaign that would move these leads into an engaged program status and I am curious if you ever got any further insight on this?
We have not. I don't think it's possible. Check out a couple recent ideas here:
We're going to reinvest the money that we were paying for the Marketo social boost/add-on capabilities and integrate with a platform like Vidyard or Wistia (or enable the native integration that Brightcove supposedly has - which is our current video platform).
Hi Sarah and Dan,
With the asset, you have the following triggers:
And filters
But that's all.

Correct - it's the valuable "interactions" piece that's missing.
Thank you for the suggestion - integrating with another platform like Vidyard is looking like a possible solution since it's the video interactions we are looking to track.
If all you want to track in-player events (start/stop/play for nn seconds) to the Marketo lead for use in SCs, you can already do this via Munchkin.
This doesn't speak directly to the need dashboards and/or other funnel visualizations, of course.
I beta tested the Social App several years ago and there have been virtually no changes to it, which is sad because it could be so much more. The technique for logging virtual page visits when someone plays a YouTube video is documented at http://developers.marketo.com/blog/send-view-data-from-a-youtube-video-to-marketo/ , but I'm not familiar with using Munchkin to do this. Sanford is there a reference you can provide for this?
That blog post uses the Munchkin API and lifted the technique I posted to the Community a week prior. (Attribution would've been nice, but that ship -- and employee -- has sailed.)
Here are some other references:
Here is a great article by Jeff Shearer that explains how to do this in a similar fashion as Sanford Whiteman has discussed.

This of course does not use the Marketo built in Youtube widget
