We have a "Create Task" campaign to write into the lead activity in SFDC whenever a Marketo Sales Insights email is sent through SFDC.
NB: I am not using the comments as they are included here - they are default items that I plan to replace.
One element is to reference the email's subject line in the Task's subject line - I will use a token to do this; the other part of this task creation is to add the Sales Insight email body content into the Task's comments section - is this possible?
If so, which is the most efficient/accurate option to get that information written in:
Ideally I would prefer the latter option as it means I don't have to manually create a token for each email's subject line
Of course, if this isn't possible, I will just write something much more simple into the comments for the task
Tokens for Interesting Moments - Marketo Docs - Product Docs
this should work if you trigger this. Will not work on batch.
Test it!
Hi Josh,
None of the tokens for IM will give your the email body, unfortunately.

I was rummaging through that to see if there was something there a little earlier actually (in addition to checking the complete glossary of tokens that are available). I wasn't able to find anything that would pull in body content from any token items. It looks like one would need to create a program level Custom token to facilitate this - a suitable alternative but definitely a lengthy manual one if you have a lot of Sales Insight emails available.
As customizing is a little bit of a fuss (and while looking for another setting) we saw that we can use the system alerts from the SFDC Integration in Admin to show activity for Sales Emails while cutting out the overwhelming noise of activity from other emails (nurture, drip, one-offs).
It would definitely be nice to have the option to include body copy/content though!
HI Michelle,
and again, even with program tokens, you cannot control the fact that the sales person might modify the content or event completely replace it.
-Greg
Yes, agreed! Of course, we are trying to promote the fact that this work is done FOR the sales person so they shouldn't feel the need to change anything, but there isn't really much of a way to fully control that indeed!
Hi Michelle,
I think it's very hard to make this work:
Why don't you use the Marketo Sync options (admin->salesforce) and log a task when a sales email is sent:
-Greg
Hi Greg,
Our posts must have crossed, because that's actually what we have chosen to use. While it's not customized information, we are able to only have activity for Sales Emails written into SFDC - the purpose of our task before was to write in that information following a removal of activity for the other types of emails as it had become rather overwhelming for the sales team to wade through.
Not as customized, but it definitely meets our needs right now!
