Varying cadence in streams - engagement programs

There may be a reason for this but I wish we could vary the timing between emails in the engagement programs.

Right now you have the options of setting the cadence to be weekly or monthly (and can pick every 2 weeks, 3 weeks, etc). You can also say what day.

I'd like to be able to set the cadence to be different between some of the content (ex first a week, then two weeks, etc) and also maybe make it so it lands on different days of the week (so leads aren't always getting our emails at the exact same time).

You can vary your emails by using a wait step in a program that send the email instead of a straight email which offsets from the cadence time.  Its not perfect but it does the job

According to Josh Hill and his Marketing Rockstart Guide - see his note on Cadence:
Cadence defines how often to send the emails in the order you created. It can be every day, week, etc based on the timing you setup. Unfortunately, you cannot currently vary the timing between content, say if you wanted 7 days, then 15 days, then 7 days. To do that, you could use two streams and set the Transition Rules to pull the lead back and forth based on Delivered or Sent Email trigger.

I agree with Eric, it's an annoying workaround...but you can definitely accomplish this with a Program in the Stream.

I would like to have an option to change a program's cadence in a flow step. So havinbg more options than Pause and Normal. So when I detect someone is hot I can increase the cadence for that specific lead to once a week instead of once every other week. Or if the opportunity close date is longer than 6 months in the future decrease the cadence to only once a month to make sure we don't run out of content.

I really hope this is something that is developed in the next release for the Engagement Engine.  It would be so much easier to have control over cadence variations on the email level and not just at the stream level.
