TRIGGER NEEDED: Clicks link on Marketo Landing Page

TRIGGER NEEDED: Clicks link on Marketo Landing Page

I've been banging my head for the past several hours and finally broke down and called Marketo support.  We need to track click activity on a Marketo landing page.  The use case is an RSVP page with an "Accept" button and a "Decline" button.  Based on what link the user clicks, they will either receive a confirmation email or be sent to a "sorry you can't attend" landing page.  Apparently this is not possible.  At this time, there is no way to use the trigger "Clicks link on web page" when Marketo landing pages are being used.

UPDATE: I just tried this again and it now appears to accept the links to the landing pages as values of the "Link Name Is" value(s) - there is no longer a red squiggly beneath it.  Apparently, it could take upwards of a couple of hours for Marketo to index and cache the page once initially visited (which is required for any landing page).  In my case, it actually took a couple of hours.

As for my specific use case, this trigger, combined with the "Clicks link on web page" choice within a "change program status" flow step will not work for us since that choice is looking for a web page where a link was clicked (not the link that was clicked on the web page).  I have another workaround, it's just not as efficient as what I had hoped to do here.

If the user clicks on a button...what happens, do they leave the page and go to another confirmation page?  If so, why not have the trigger be when they arrive on the confirmation page.

Jillian, if they click on a button, they go to another confirmation page.  What you have suggested - and what we reverted to when we thought the "Clicks on web page" trigger wasn't working - will certainly work.  The problem with applying the trigger to "visited web page" is if a user visits that page another time, it will trigger the flow action again.  In this specific case, that's not really an issue since it's not a common page (a user can only get to it by clicking on the Accept/Decline buttons on the previous page.  But there are certainly other use cases where we might use this - where the confirmation/landing page is a public-facing page on our site - with users landing on it who had nothing to do with the original landing page.

Dan, if you're triggering on 'visited web page', can you add a constraint where 'referrer' is your landing page? Would that effectively filter out those that have come to the confirmation page a different way?

Sure, either this or the solution that finally worked for me would suffice.  The root of the issue is the delay - up to 2 hours - for these URLs to be made available within the triggers/filters in Marketo.  Eventually I got it to work - I just needed to have patience (which we, as marketers, rarely have).
