SSL for branding domains

SSL for branding domains

As I noted in the old thread SSL for branding domain not landing page it isn't possible to run an all-HTTPS environment with Marketo tracking in the mix.  This makes it impossible to comply with security and risk directives common to the financial industry.

For the moment we are planning to attack this by gatewaying mail through our own servers and rewriting the tracking links, as well as proxying the branding domain on our own boxes. But I think the time is fast approaching (not there yet, I admit) where not having native HTTPS support is going to inhibit security-centric people from using Marketo, or at least from using

native tracking (which is one of the main reasons to use the platform, of course).

I hadn't made this an Idea yet, so here it is!

We do support SSL for branding domains.  You can reach out to your account manager for details.

Interesting! Last time we asked (April/May) we still got a No. How long ago was this added?

I believe it was in either Q1 or Q2 of this year, I'm not certain though.

OK. We opened communications via services@marketo.com and will see what happens.

Hi Kenny Elkington ,

We were just said that this is still not possible. Here is the answer we got from the PS team:

I had the chance to catch up with our product team in the meantime.

Currently Marketo doesn’t generate these links on https (only on http).

In order to force the https to be on those links, you might need to implement HSTS on the domain to force all pages under this domain/subdomain to load under https.

That said, if implementing HSTS is not an option for you, your certificates are already installed on Marketo side so once Marketo generate the links on https, you will be ready for it.
