Segmentation by Account Owner

I need to segment my database by the Account Owner field. This is how we sort out which prospects belong to which sales reps, which accounts belong to which account managers, etc.

This same idea was raised back in 2012 and there aren't any recent updates. Surely I'm not the only one who could use this?

Won't email address work for you? Each rep has a unique email address? I don't think this is a custom field.

You are correct, it is not a custom field, but it is not available for use in segmentations. Support has confirmed that "Account Owner First Name," Account Owner Last Name," and "Account Owner Email Address" are not available. Argh.

Maybe you can have Salesforce admin make a custom field that populates the lead owner in a field for you! 🙂

We are currently out of custom fields in Salesforce, but will be getting more soon. In the meantime, my workaround works...I just think this is such an obvious segmentation filter.

Could you create your own custom field in marketo and write to it for account owner? IE the field would only live in Marketo but could be seen by the smart campaign. It would take a decent amount of Smart Campaigns to achieve to assign to the field but sounds like it might be worthwhile. 🙂

Yes - I did create a workaround, which is the second comment in this conversation. It works, but it's cumbersome.
