Hannah, We recommend the use of responsive templates for mobile friendly emails. Responsive templates use CSS media queries to determine the screen size and adjust the layout to provide the desired user experience on mobile devices and desktops. You can import your responsive templates into Marketo or use ones from our program library to create responsive emails. We currently have one mobile template in the Marketo Program Library and will be adding more responsive email templates to the library in the near future.

Elliott, Given the number of devices and different form-factors, we believe a responsive design would best serve the needs of the marketer. The alternative approach of designing different emails for mobile devices and desktops would degrade the user-experience when a device with a different screen size is used.
Our email editor fully supports responsive designs today. We are providing responsive templates we through the program library to help you get started quickly without having to build a responsive template yourself. But, if you do have a responsive template, you will absolutely be able to import it into Marketo and build an email on it.
Our LP editor supports absolute positioning of elements. This breaks a lot of responsive templates, so we are working on figuring out how to support mobile-friendly LPs in a way that doesn't require the marketer to jump through hoops. I will have more details on this project in a month or so. In the meantime, a PS package is available to create a mobile design of any LP created by you.
Raj, are you going to provide additional email templates? One of our content creators wants to have an area above the body copy of the Mobile Template where they can add an image.
We are working with a leading design studio to add more email templates. The templates we have are not optimized for Outlook, which is the reason they are not already in the program library. They will work on Outlook, but in a non-optimized way. You can obtain some sample templates with image support by writing to me directly - rrajamani@marketo.com
We have added 30+ responsive templates to the program library. We will be announcing this as part of the July release, but am giving you a headsup as many of you were eager to try out these templates. Would love to get your feedback.
