Notification for Sync Failures

There really should be a way to notify someone if a record sync failed, especially considering Marketo gives up after the first try.

An example of where this is extremely prevalent is for SFDC integration customers who have validation rules setup. Validation rules related to Leads/Contacts are fairly common is SFDC, but they are often setup over time by an admin as they are needed, especially when new custom fields are created. A by-product of this process is that existing database records that were in SFDC don't have values in the required fields, so from the moment a validation rule is setup and going forward, when the record is being edited by a user it won't save unless that required field has a value. Since Marketo needs a SF user login, it is subject to these validation rules.

The example above may want to be documented in the SFDC installation/integration guides as well, since validation rules are not necessarily part of permissions and can apply to an admin user. We had no way of knowing, and luckily we caught this before we launched our first nurture campaign... otherwise thousands of records wouldn't have synced anything. *gulp*

I should add that a sync failed notification would be useful in more cases than the specific example above... API limits for example. I'm sure there are other examples that cause a sync failure.

Agreed... and other sys admin log/tools are need: Smart campaign errors, Program adaptors (WebEx) etc.

100% agree. It is important to know which records failed and need to be re-triggered.

I just had one today where the sync status kept comming up ok but the data between the two systems was not moving and there was no way to tell.  This is a major problem and a causes a huge loss of confidence in the product.  It always spawns questions like how long has it been going on and how can the root cause be avoided in the future.  With little or no information it is hard.   More transparency please. 
 
On a second note: trust.marketo.com should be updated more quickly it is the middle of August and July has yet to be updated.  Furthermore what does the green status reflect. What do we see if one pod is down? or email...

Just accidently ran into more sync failures. Certain SFDC fields are required nu default and you cannot change that requirement. For instance Company and Last Name. This is not the same issue as validation rules. Obviously not all our Leads in Marketo will have those values to start out, so our new lead sync fails.

So many cases where syncs fail, no way to know!

I aggree, we need the SFDC sync field availible for customers to create smart campaigns to alert Admin when leads are not syncing to SFDC. I was told by support that this is a system field and Marketo does not make it availible.

yes.  just noticed 50 schedule demo requests failed to sync to sfdc.

would be nice to see list of all possible failure options and have opportunity to modify subscription options (e.g. which failures are important, frequency of notification, who receives notification).

I really need this functionality as well.  Our SFDC instance is tightly controlled and the sales team requires 6+ fields to be populated prior to a sync.  There is also validation associated by postal codes/country and/or state.

I believe a filter/trigger combination would be ideal, this would then allow you to setup a monitoring campaign that can send customizable alerts to the admins.
