Hi all,
We have about 190,000 marketable leads and additional 120,000 non-marketable leads.
As Marketo is charging by the total amount of leads (without actually getting into what is and isn't marketable) we need to delete the non-marketable leads from Marketo.
The problems:
1. Sales won't allow to delete them from SFDC
2. Any change in SFDC (even a daily automated change) will bring them back to Marketo.
So Marketo support came with the idea of adding a custom sync filter called "Do Not Sync to Marketo", once it's true - there's no sync.
We ended up updating this field to 50,000 non-marketable leads and then deleting them from Marekto.
However - everytime we have a list import or when a deleted lead is filling out a form, we are getting a duplication, because Marketo is creating a new lead and instead of checking if there's a lead with this email on SFDC (and update it if it does exist), it immediately insert it to SFDC and create a duplication (or in our current case this lead is stuck because of SFDC workflow that avoid duplication).
My idea is one of the following two:
1. Marketo will create a better sync workflow that will check if a lead is exist in SFDC before inserting a new record into SFDC, if the email address exists - Marketo should be able to update the record somehow instead of inserting a new lead.
2. Marketo will charge based on marketable leads
Comm'on ladies and gentleman - thumbs up!
Thanks,
