Background:
We're running a promotion at a trade show, where you have to fill out a Marketo form in order to get $1000 off a purchase. When the form is filled out, it kicks out an email with the promo details and the unique ID for that person so that we can make sure that the individual that is getting the discount actually attended the show. We don't want people to be able to reuse the code.
To do this, I put a step in front of the auto-triggerd email that said "sync to SFDC," I then put a 1 min. wait step, and then sent the email.
In the body of the email i used the "SFDC Lead ID" as the "Promo Code," so that when the customer receives the email it gives a uniqe and meaniful promo code for one time use.
Idea:
It would be nice if I could have a promo code field that related to a specific program in Marketo, that would automatically generate a new code for each member of the program. That would alow me to have the same lead in many different programs, each having their own promo code. It would need to be a field that could be inserted into an email as a token, and it would need to create a unique code every time so that there is no way the same code could exsist twice.
