Enable more sync options between Marketo and Microsoft Dynamics CRM

There are many useful sync options that are available to SFDC CRM environments:

But for MS Dynamics environments, there's just one: "Sync lead to Microsoft".

The lack of these additional options really has our hands tied for including specific activity within our smart campaigns and flow steps - specifically "change owner", "create task" and "Delete lead".  Please enhance the sync capabilities between Marketo and MS Dynamics.

Hi Dan-

I agree. I don't know if you could help me out, I'm new to Marketo Dynamics integration and I'm struggling that Lookups fields show up as the GUID. You would think by now there would have been a fix for they instead of the customer having to do a workaround.

Can you help push up votes on mine request?

Thanks!

Hi Jennifer - we've been trying to get this to work in our instance for months now.  And finally did - but only in our sandbox environment.

In order for you to use the same approach, you will need to ask Marketo to enable "Munctions" for your environment.

See this discussion thread for more detail: Syncing "friendly" custom entity values from MS Dynamics CRM

So, you would need to enable munctions, then also pay a monthly fee to a third party? Just want to be sure I'm ready that right.

Thanks for the info. This is a lot less integrated than I thought.

No extra fee involved.  That's only if you went with the service that Rajesh mentioned.  We're doing this solely with the custom sync entity, munctions and smart campaigns.

Hi Dan,

Isn't it in MSD the equivalent of salesforce formula fields ?

It will probably not solve your problem, but just in case: in SFDC, the way we solve this is we create a formula field that just copy the name of the lookup record. For instance, let's say we have a lookup field called "product" that links to the product table. The lookup field in SFDC will contain an SFDC ID (such as "a0J5700000VkVuBaDx"). we can create a formula field which value will be product.name (simplified notation). then we map the formula field to Marketo and the trick is done.

Hi Greg - we finally got this resolved.  Apparently LOOKUP Munctions are separate from REGULAR Munctions.  We needed support to turn on LOOKUP Munctions for us.  See the bottom of this thread for more detail: Syncing "friendly" custom entity values from MS Dynamics CRM

Hi Dan

I have never seen "munchtions" in action

Believe it or not, Marketo Support didn't even know what these were.  They thought this whole time we were referring to Munchkin - but were misspelling it!
