Email reply tracking

Email reply tracking

Sometimes we do outbound campaigns inside Marketo where the CTA is to reply directly to an email.

It would be awesome if there were a way to track replies inside Marketo and to be able to use it as a smartlist filter or trigger. I know some other tools can do this, so it's definitely possible, Marketo

That is correct.

We are trying to figure out a way to change lead scores and/or other fields in Marketo, aside from a manual one-by-one process. No luck yet.

We have an internal solution -- currently built as an Exchange plug-in -- that updates Marketo. We're rewriting it to use a different MTA infrastructure so we can bring it to the public (Exchange is obviously too costly to run a narrowly specialized service!),  If you're interested, you can sign up at http://teknkl.com for updates.

I appreciate the thought that went into building your solution and publishing it here, by the way.  Just wanted to point out that it doesn't fully meet the Idea.

Thanks for the further feedback and the link. I signed up!

Also, my apologies to you and others on this idea thread. It didn't click that this is an "idea" and that my solution really didn't actually solve for the idea! I think, I'll add a note now to the top of my post to address that fact. Thanks for the gracious way you brought that to my attention.

I basically got tired of sending out so many of these types of emails with no reliable way to measure replies. So, the mostly manual, outside-of-Marketo approach is a nice step and worthwhile for us, but yes...far from ideal. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on your solution when it's ready! Although since we use Exchange ourselves, I would gladly take it as-is if that's something you're offering.

No need to apologize to a semi-shameless plugger.

We aren't going to have an installable Exchange version for a few reasons.  One is that it deliberately runs on its own Exchange server, as it would have in the cloud, so I can't vouch for integrating it into an edge server that's doing other routing as well.  Another is that it uses a SQL backend. And the other being that we're going to move to a totally different set of technologies... you probably get the idea!

Thanks a lot for signing up for the beta.  We're putting together a follow-up survey now.
