Deactivate user without deleting it

One cannot deactivate a user in Marketo. We can remove all roles, or delete it (which means it has never existed...)

We should be able to deactivate a user forever. It would not be counted in licences and we would be able to filter the user list to show only activated or deactivated users.

Plus, in listed companies (Sarbanes Oxley), deleting users is normally not authorized, as you need to keep tracks of what they have been doing for quite a long time after the facts. Not that important for a marketing tool, but who knows

I guess it wouldn't matter when there isn't really an audit trail, but maybe this will be an option once the audit trail is turned on

The more I think about this one, the more I feel deactivation should be the standard way, user removal should not be allowed.

ex: adding a new user who was deleted

Removing the possibility to delete a user would require to change the way Marketo handles a new user that never connected.

HI Greg,

I think this should still be open as the expire date field is only for the next day forward. What if you want to immediately deactivate their access? That is crucial to us, especially since it's access to customer/prospect data that could easily and quickly be exported.
