Did you simply delete the list or run a smart campaign that said "delete from marketo"? You should also have them deleted from your CRM/Salesforce because they could be coming back in from the bi-directional sync.
When you import a list, you will need to choose a "List Name". This is a static list.
I'd recommend that you go to that static list that you imported the leads into and do a Select All and Delete from that static list.
