what causes an email address to become invalid

do email addresses become invalid from soft bounces?  If so, should I have a trigger campaign to change them back to false?

Emails become invalid only on certain Hard Bounces or by direct action. I do recommend the following:

• Hard Bounced x2 = Set to invalid
• Soft Bounce x 3 = Suspend OR Invalid. I usually suspend for 30 days, then let them try again. If another 3 times, then I invalidate.

I was informed once an email becomes invalid, emails are still delivered to them.  Is this true?  Also, once they become invalid, I should set up a trigger to change it back to false as most are due to soft bounces.  thoughts?
