We are trying to understand how we can map a lead (person) in Marketo to the right Account in our CRM system.
For example in CRM we have account CompanyA and Account CompanyB. We could of course ask the lead (person) when filling out a form which company they belong to. But when using free text field leads enter different values and are spelling the company name differently which makes mapping to right Account difficult. e.g. some leads complete a form with CompanyA and another with COMPANYA or COMPANIA. We could of course use a dropdown list to offer leads a choice but then we reveal names of all companies we have as customer to a lead which we do not want to.
So does anybody have a clever way how to link a Lead to the right Account?
What to ask a lead in a form and how to use the information to map a lead to an account.
We need this as before uploading new leads to our CRM we need to have identified this. A lead (person) has to have an Account it belongs to. involving sales or any other manual way is not an option for us with 800.000 new leads we need to find a clever logic how to do this.

Using something like Clearbit Autocomplete API will allow you to use a definitive list of Account names without exposing your account lists. You'll need a developer to implement:

I know this is a little reply to this message but did you find any solution to this or are you using any other tool to lead to account association?
We are working on a feature 'Lead to Account Association' planned to be release in Summer'16 this year which will allow automatic lead to account association in Marketo based on matching key lead attributes e.g. Domain Name, Company Name, IP Address, Inferred Information etc.
