Uploading Lists of Contacts

This is probably a really basic question but please bear with me.

We have a list of folks who are new to our system, but we want to upload as contacts and associate with accounts. I want to make sure I do this correctly so not to mess up everything in both Marketo & SFDC!

Do I upload the list, then sync them with SFDC by converting them? Or is there a better way?

Ann,

As a general rule you import to Marketo and sync to SFDC. However since there is no question on wanting all of the contacts in SFDC , you can import to SFDC and they will sync down to Marketo(as long as they are visible to the sync user).

If you really want to import them as contacts only, I would do your import into SFDC as contacts and then it will get synced on the Marketo side as a contact. Otherwise everything will get created as leads and you'll have to manually convert them in SFDC.
