Tracking Web activity via REST/SOAP instead of Munchkin

Our R&D team would like to track leads' web activity via the REST/SOAP API instead of the Munchkin code.
They plan to to have one central Javascript that feeds all "consumers" like Marketo (they're using the open source Piwik for tracking, it's like Google Analytics)

1. Is that even possible?
2. What are the advantages/ disadvantages?

Re: Tracking Web activity via REST/SOAP instead of Munchkin

Hi Idan

I think it is not possible because Piwik has visitor's anonymous IP only.
And when make a call "Request Campaign" for adding Piwik activity log, you need Marketo lead ID.

My R&D team has other approach.
Export all lead activity log from Marketo via SOAP everyday, and import to analytics solution.

Re: Tracking Web activity via REST/SOAP instead of Munchkin

It is not possible to send in web activity via the REST/SOAP API.

You could call Munchkin from another server if you have the data. You would need the cookie id of the user and the activity. A second option is to use a solution like Segment, so you would only have to use one tracking tag:
