Tracking Social Media Leads

Hello!

I need to be able to track event leads that we get from our social media promotions. I feel like there has to be a simpler way to do this than the process that we're currently using.

When we are hosting an event, my current process is to clone one of the emails that is being sent on the event, and then change all of the hyperlinks to a unique link to a social media registration page. That way I'm able to drive people to that email and see what registration page each registrant came from. This process can get incredibly time consuming, as we host a large amount of events every month and are promoting all of them via social media.

I've played around with using the Google URL Builder, but while this will show me any activity on the link itself, I can't find a way to see if anyone actually registers from that link. Is there a way to see which website a registrant comes from? Any insight, or different ideas, would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Tracking Social Media Leads

Megan,

There is a better way and you are almost there. You'll need a few components. Also, do a search for url parameters here as there are a few posts with details.
  1. tracking fields: what are you tryin gto track?
  2. decide on url parameter codes to keep it short
  3. add hidden fields to your Forms
  4. construct the url
  5. post each url to a different source that is coded for that particular source
http://www.yoursite.com/page.html?source=social&platform=twitter&utm_campaign=XXXX

or something like that.

Re: Tracking Social Media Leads

Hi Josh. Do you have any guidance on how we can properly set up source attribution on Facebook?

We're trying to add a Marketo form/LP as a tab on one of our Facebook profiles. Any ideas?
