1. partitions between the different areas (ideas don't sit along side product discussion)

SKW: In a perfect world, where would you like us to highlight ideas. See below for where we highlight them on the Product Page and in the header

Well, ideas I liked in the previous instance where they were comingled with discussions.

In your second screenshot you point to Community: Feedback & Help.

Is that different to "Discussions" and if so, why?

We separated 'Community Help' (which is about the Community vs. the Product) from Product related questions.
