Syncing leads to SFDC AND adding to campaign in one step.

Syncing leads to SFDC AND adding to campaign in one step.

I am working on refining my SFDC routing process and want to be able to assign leads to individual territory reps (manually because we have very few reps and only send over highly qualified leads) AND at the same time, I want to have those leads added to a campaign in SFDC.

I know that I can do both of these things, but what is the best way to be able to sync a lead to a sales rep AND also add them to the campaign in one step.

My initial thought is to set-up a trigger campaign that listens for anytime a lead is sync'd with SFDC (with my specific new sales reps) and then have automatically add them to the SFDC campaign.

Is there a better way to go about this? Wanted a gut check..

thanks!

Re: Syncing leads to SFDC AND adding to campaign in one step.

How you send leads to SFDC campaign depends somewhat on how you've setup your campaigns in SFDC.

For example, some people set up campaigns that are always "on" like a "landing page campaign" and then you would have a trigger campaign that listens for the specific form fillout, and then sync the new lead, and assigns to the appropriate campaign. The trigger campaign could be specific to the individual program (or landing page) or it could be broad or categorical: depending on how specific your campaigns are.

Another example is something like a tradeshow, which isn't always "on", so you could upload the list of people you met at the show, sync them to SFDC to the appropriate rep, and then assign to a campaign (could be campaign "trade show X" or a broad campaign for all tradeshows). In this case, it's likely to be sent to a campaign via batch vs trigger.

Hope that makes sense...

Re: Syncing leads to SFDC AND adding to campaign in one step.

Erin,

I work with many clients that struggle with this, and have found that it works best if you use SFDC lead assignment rules initially. It saves you a bunch of work later. To prevent sales reps from seeing the leads, you could use record types or lead statuses to hide them from coming up in views.

You can then listen for "Data Value Changes SFDC Type, New Value = 'Lead", Owner = {{the owners you want}}, Status = {{certain visible statuses}} to add people to the SFDC campaign you'd like.

If you could provide more high level info on what you're trying to accomplish by adding people to the campaign, perhaps we could better assist.

Re: Syncing leads to SFDC AND adding to campaign in one step.

Thanks! So the backstory is that we are wanting to route leads to our territory sales reps (only target accounts and just so they have visibility into what leads are coming in from their accounts) but we also want those same leads to get added to a campaign for our telephonic prospecting agency.

We have a very long sales cycle and are focusing only on target accounts (we only sell to companies with 10K+ employees) so the lead flow is lower, but I haveto be more accurate because we don't have inside sales.

With this process, I can identifty leads that come in from target accounts (based on email domain), route them to the sales rep and then also add them to a campaign that our telephonic agency has access to. I set-up a trigger campaign that listens for whenever leads are sync'd with one of my 6 reps and I think that should work OK.

Yes! Since you only have the one campaign, a generic trigger campaign should work great!
