We have started sending out alot of client communications. In doing so we want to make sure that if the contact opens the email or is sent the email that they do not MQL or MQC for follow up. We are trying to figure out the best way to built this out. Initially we had added it to the lifecycle for MQC & MQL that if contact opened _____ email they would not MQL or MQC but this did not work, it made it so that contact would never MQC/MQL becuase they opened that email.
Is there a way to add to the email program to keep score as is? What are some best practices to ensure the contact can still MQC/MQL based on activities they continue to do, but not come over by opening the email.
In today's environment - where email opens are very unreliable and often are a result of false-positives performed by email scanners - you shouldn't be doing anything when an email is opened. No scoring, no lead progression... nothing. Instead, you should be focusing on specific engagement/behaviors/scores to properly progress leads to MQL/MQC status. Just my $.02
Can you add a screenshot of your scoring campaign? Likely you can set up your scoring campaign to exclude these emails:
However I'll also have to agree with Dan Stevens on this one. Email opens are pretty unreliable - probably wouldn't recommend using them for lead scoring.
