Smart Campaign Help - How to Send Emails Based on Recipient 's Action on Previous Emails

I'm setting up a smart campaign with 7 emails. The first 2 are as follows:
  • Send email 1 to smart list (all contacts)
  • Send email 1A if contact does NOT click or open email 1 (after 7 days)
I'm not sure what is the best way to go about this. How do I add conditions like this to the email step?

Re: Smart Campaign Help - How to Send Emails Based on Recipient 's Action on Previous Emails

In your last send email step, did you mean to say "Send email 1a if NOT member of list Responders from Track 1"? The way that you outlined will only exclude those who clicked the email and not those who opened it.

I think running a second smartlist would work better for you. In the steps you outline, anyone who opens or clicks the email within the 4 day wait step will have missed the chance to be added to your list.

Sounds like you could make a second smartlist that identities the leads who did not click or open email 1 after 7 days. Then your logic would be:

Send email 1 to smart list A
Send email 1A to smart list B

Thanks, Delinda. I ended up adding them to additional lists to route to other tracks in the campaign (Track 2 w/ emails 2 and 2a), but for this case - I did the following:
  • Send Email 1
  • Wait 3 days
  • Add to list w/ 2 choices:
    • If Opened Email is [Email 1], list name: "....Responders from Track 1"
    • If Clicked Link in Email is [Email 1], list name: "...Responders from Track 1"
  • Wait 4 days
  • Send email step with choice: If NOT Clicked Link in Email [Email 1], send email [Email 1a]
Will this work okay?
