Re: Show Tokenized Email Subject in MSI

I've been switching over a lot of our emails to tokenized emails so I don't end up in an approval black hole; however, I've noticed that if I tokenize the email subject line, this shows up as {{my.TOKEN NAME}} in MSI, so our sales team can't see  - at a glance - the name of the email that was sent.

Is there any way to have this populated? If not, it's not a big deal to go into the email and change the subject line. I just figured I'd ask in case it helps save time

Thanks in advance!

Hey Jennifer, unfortunately this is one weakness of MSI, subject lines with tokens show the token in MSI instead of the actual subject line that the person received. I think there are some ideas about this... I will update my post with more information if I find them.

For future reference, just wanted to update this thread to note that if you click on the email subject line in MSI, it opens a preview window where the tokens DO resolve correctly (both subject line and body).

I don't think I had noticed it before.

It's still a poor UX to not have it render in the tab itself but at least reps can click the preview and see the entire email.

Clicking subject line opens preview, tokens render nicely.

Hello everybody,

has there been an update on that issue in the last couple of months? Or did anyone come up with an elegant workaround?

Thanks,

Michael

Thanks! Yup, definitely a weakness, but not a huge deal. I thought I was beating the system so I could pass off some of these emails to other folks without having them go into the email. Oh, well

Jennifer DiMaria yes Dory Viscogliosi is spot on. The tokens do not render in the Emails tab subject lines.

Interesting that you're also seeing it in IMs, because most of the issues that I run into are on the email tab, subject line. Are you sure the interesting moment is pulling a token from the right place?

When I do something like this, it will pull the correct information into my IM. This is a flow step in a triggered campaign... not sure it will work in a batch campaign, just in case that's how yours is set up. Tokens + batch campaigns can be funky sometimes.

Yup, these are batch email campaigns. I have a generic IM campaign sent up so that any emails sent get added to MSI's IMs. I suppose I can remove that and create a batch campaign in each Email Program for "Was Sent Email" that changes the IM, but I wanted to set it up so there were less steps.

Jennifer DiMaria, are you seeing this in the templates, where the reps will select an email to send, or in the actual record of emails sent?

I'm pretty sure tokenized subject lines appear there as sent. Can you post a screenshot of where you are looking? I could double check for you.

I'm referring to the actual record of emails sent (though I imagine it would appear the same if the rep went to send the email, as well).

Here's a screen shot of what we're seeing in MSI:

The emails above the highlighted one, where the subject lines appear, were altered so I added them directly to the email instead of using a token so we could see what was sent.
