Separating US database and EMEA database

I would ideally like to have a US database and an EMEA database.

1. Is this possible?
2. Is it worth it?
3. Pros/Cons
4. Resources to do this?

I would take a look at Workspaces and Partitions, which is an add-on feature: Workspaces and Person Partitions - Marketo Docs - Product Docs

Even with lead partitions, ALL leads will still be part of the default workspace. Also, is this question to comply with the upcoming GDPR legislation?
