We have a large number of duplicate contacts in our database. I recently noticed the following pattern:
1. A person fills out a form in Marketo (therefore created in Marketo)
2. We sync this person to SF (generally yes, but depends on the form and campaign).
3. I can see the person's record on SF as Created by "Marketo Operations".
4. A few minutes later I can see a duplicated person in SF with Created by "SF Operations"
4. The person is synced back to Marketo and, viola! A dupe.
What is going on and how can we solve it?

You'll want to check your workflows in Salesforce. If a duplicate is being created by "SF Operations", it suggests something in Salesforce is causing this. To Marketo, it looks like a net new record so it's just syncing it down.
