We have created a segment using SMB Organizational Group, to target small businesses AND we want to target Retail AND we are including IP addresses (as recommended by Marketo for targeting small businesses). Does this type of segmentation actually work? Do SMB's typically have an IP address that is categorized by industry? Any clarification or recommended reading materials on understanding these concepts would be spectacular!
I believe how this work is the business itself is associated with an industry, not necessarily the IP address itself.
Do you know how businesses associate themselves with industries, if it's not found in the IP?
Are the IP addresses provided to you by Marketo, or are they IP addresses that have been gathered through tracking SMB company visits to your site? Like Jamie mentioned, I don't think IP addresses would have anything to do with an industry.
To answer your question we are actually not excluding them from the segment, so we don't have a list of actual IP Addresses
