Hi Renee,
This is a link to the getting started section of Marketo:
https://community.marketo.com/MarketoGetStarted?src=univThere are 4 componants to getting started. The first is your setup and integration (there are instructions on how to set up DKIM, SPF, whitelist your servers, etc). Next there are some tutorials on basic steps. Then there is a video on how to build a program. Lastly, I would HIGHLY recommend watching the on demand version of the Foundations class or taking the class virtually.
After you have gone through your setup and training, I would recommend taking the following steps before launching your pilot (all of these have tutorials on the community):
1. If you have SFDC professional you will need to change the sync time to an interval of 30 minutes (you can contact Marketo support and have them do this for you). If you have SFDC enterprise you can ignore this step.
2. Set up your tags and channels
3. Create a naming convention for all programs, assets, and reports
4. Great supression lists or a blacklist
5. Run a historical data program and set all of your imported or synced leads to have an acquision program of "legacy lead" and set the acquision date to be the CRM created date
6. Create a program template for your pilot
7. Make sure you are capturing lead source as a hidden field on your forms
8. Test the program in every browser, test with mutliple domains
Then you should be good to go. There are plenty of steps you can do in your first 90 days, but those are essentials in my opinion.
